Meet God: Module 2
Meet God Through the Narratives and Law
Welcome to Module Two. I am so excited that you have decided to continue with the “Meet God” series.
In this Module we will apply the Bible GPS method of understanding, application and communication to three different types of literature namely the law, narratives and prophets.
That means we will cover a substantial portion of the Old Testament. You will discover how the Old Testament is still applicable to us in the 21st century.
Why should we study the Old Testament now that we have the New Testament?
The Old Testament lays the foundation for the teachings and events found in the New Testament. The Bible is a progressive revelation. If you skip the first half of any good book and try to finish it, you will have a hard time understanding the characters, the plot, and the ending. In the same way, the New Testament is only completely understood when it is read with the Old Testament as a backdrop.
I like what Bono had to say about the Old Testament: “I accept the Old Testament as more of an action movie: blood, car chases, evacuations, a lot of special effects, seas dividing, mass murder, adultery. The children of God are running amok, wayward. Maybe that's why they're so relatable.”
I trust that you will meet God anew in this study!
